Enforcement directorate quizzes Anil Kohli

ED probing foreign travels by DCI chief, family (PTI) 23 July

New Delhi, Jul 23 (PTI) Enforcement Directorate has launched a probe into the functioning of the Dental Council of India (DCI) and served notice to its chief Anil Kohli to furnish details about his foreign visits. Official sources said the Directorate had recently issued notice to Kohli, seeking information regarding his foreign travel and that of his family members. "The ED had asked for certain information, which we have already sent to them," Kohli told PTI and denied any wrong doing. ED had asked for copies of documents and details of foreign exchange obtained, foreign visits by his wife and daughters along with the photocopies of their passports and details of trusts and firms in which they have financial stakes. The probe is just at the preliminary stage at the moment and documents have been sought for to see is there are any violations of the Foreign Exchange Money Laundering Act. "All the allegations are motivated ones. Disgruntled colleges which were denied permission and certain other vested interests are spreading the stories," Kohli said and added he had already expressed his willingness to cooperate with any kind of probe. The ED probe on the DCI chief comes just three months after it investigated corruption charges levelled against Medical Council Of India (MCI) chief Ketan Desai. Desai was subsequently arrested by CBI in April along with two others.
